2017 NBA Playoffs: Golden State Warriors down Utah Jazz in four games

Here’s what happened on day 22 of the 2017 NBA Playoffs:

GSW 121 – UTA 95, GSW wins series 4-0

The Golden State Warriors built another huge first quarter lead, and it was just too much for the Utah Jazz to overcome in the latter’s win-or-go-home game.

The Dubs came out splashing, building a 10-3 lead, that they grew to as much as 24 points in the first, before settling for a 39-17 advantage after the initial 12 minutes.

Ian Clark scored off a layup to open the second, but the Jazz found a second wind, scoring 14 unanswered to cut their deficit to just 10, 41-31, behind Dante Exum and Derrick Favors. In response, Kevin Durant scored back-to-back baskets, then Draymond Green nailed a triple, to make it 49-31, but Utah kept plugging away and got to within single-digits at the half, 60-52.

The Warriors’ lead dwindled to as low as five in the third period, 66-61, following Shelvin Mack charities. However, Golden State always seemed to find an answer, and they ended the third with a pair of triples from Stephen Curry and Andre Iguodala, for a 93-79 tally.

Joe Ingles and Mack scored layups to open the final canto, but an 18-4 run capped by a Curry three turned out to be the nail in the coffin. That bucket made it 113-87 with just four minutes remaining. Golden State proceeded to sub out their starters, and Utah followed suit shortly after, with stars Rudy Gobert and Gordon Hayward receiving a round of applause.

Curry led the way with 30 points on 9-of-15 shooting, in addition to five rebounds, seven assists, and a block. Klay Thompson added 21 markers, Kevin Durant had 18, and Draymond Green logged a triple-double of 17 points, 10 caroms, and 11 dimes.

Gordon Hayward scored 25 on 21 shots, Shelvin Mack added 15 points, and Rudy Gobert posted a double-double of 12 points and 13 rebounds.

Golden State now awaits the winner of the San Antonio Spurs – Houston Rockets series, which will go at least six games.
