Aldin Ayo breaks silence, thanks DLSU for his “two well-spent years”

The coaching situation of the La Salle Green Archers is slowly taking shape.

During the holidays, a report broke that Aldin Ayo has opted to end his run with Green Archers and will be transferring to the UST Growling Tigers.

Since then, no official statement has been released by La Salle or Ayo regarding the report. There was a report by Yoyo Sarmenta of ESPN 5 a day after the report broke that Ayo will be meeting with La Salle patron Danding Cojuanco Jr. to “try to change” Ayo’s mind about leaving the Green Archers. The meeting was supposedly being set early this month after the holidays.

But it seems that Ayo has already made up his mind.

Through his personal social media account, he thanked the DLSU community and management for his time with the team.

He was supposed to keep his silence but since the news broke earlier, he asked permission to be able to issue a statement.

His statement also comes at the heels of a report that La Salle has appointed a head coach to move forward this new year.

DLSU Blog Archer’s Clubhouse run by prominent team supporter Tony Atayde has reported that Ayo’s top deputy Louie Gonzales will be taking over as the Green Archers’ head coach.

Gonzales will be joined by Glen Capacio who will be staying on with La Salle.

Also, contrary to earlier reports, Ayo will reportedly not be recruiting current players in La Salle as told to the Archer’s Clubhouse.

This statement by the champion coach as well as the appointment of Gonzalez gives a sense of closure to this whole coaching issue for La Salle.
