Allen Durham was a monster as Meralco beats Star in Sta. Rosa

Meralco 96 – Star 90

Allen Durham was too much to handle as he flirted with a 30-30 triple double to lead the Meralco Bolts to their sixth win. Meralco’s import scored 29 points, grabbed 27 rebounds and dished out seven assists to tow the Bolts to the win.

Durham’s first basket was an early indication of the work he’d put into the game. He was foiled two times as he tried to get a basket inside. But with every miss, Durham stayed with the ball until he finally got the basket and the foul. The Bolts took their import’s lead and complimented his work inside by hitting their outside shots. Meralco was able to build a 19-point lead at the end of the first period.

Star sped up the game in the second half. They forced several turnovers in the third quarter as they cut into the imposing deficit one fast break basket as a time. Star was able to get to within six points, 74-80 midway in the fourth period. But Durham attacked the basket and got a hoop inside plus the foul to bring the lead back up to nine points. He then found Chris Newsome for an open jumper to restore a double-digit lead. That was enough of a cushion for the Bolts to go home with the win.
