Gilas Pilipinas started out with a 23-man pool for the 2019 World Cup Qualifiers. They cut that down to 16 players. Only 15 made the trip to Japan as Terrence Romeo stayed behind, still recovering from an injury. From those 15 players, Coach Chot Reyes announced via Facebook Live the 12 men that will represent the country against Japan for the first game of the World Cup Qualifiers.

The 12-man roster against Japan will be Andray Blatche, June Mar Fajardo, Japeth Aguilar and Troy Rosario as bigs. On the wings will be Matthew Wright, Gabe Norwood, RR Pogoy and Allein Maliksi. Rounding out the 12 will be a back court of Kiefer Ravena, Jasyon Castro, Calvin Abueva and Kevin Alas.
