Ben Mbala wins back-to-back MVPs, Juan Gomez De Liano takes home Rookie of the Year

He missed the first two games of the season, but Ben Mbala quickly made up for it in the remaining games. He averaged 26.0 points, 13.1 rebounds, 1.3 assists, 1.3 steals and 2.5 blocks in 12 games this season. There were some games that he literally did everything for his team.

Because of his monstrous performance this season, Mbala is slated to win his second MVP award in the UAAP. He led all players with a dominating 96.58 statistical points (SP) this season.

Thirdy Ravena was a distant second with 66.5 SPs. Jjay Alejandro, Alvin Pasaol and Papi Sarr round out the top 5 finishers of the Season 80 SPs. The three players had 63 points with only decimals separating them.

Freshman Juan Gomez De Liano ran away with the Rookie of the Year award. He led all rookies with 46.69 SPs, good for 14th overall in the league.

The younger Gomez De Liano averaged 11.6 points, 6.2 rebounds and 2.5 assists in his first year in the league.

The official awarding of the Season 80 awards will be during the Finals which will start next week.
