Giannis Antetokounmpo puts up MVP numbers in season debut

Before the season even began, fans and analysts were already calling Giannis Antetokounmpo an MVP candidate. He put up career numbers last season and given his continuous growth since his rookie year, he was on track to but up even better numbers this season.

The Greek Freak lived up to expectations in his first game this season. Antetokounmpo scored 37 points, grabbed 13 boards and got three steals in an all-around performance. He lit up the Celtics in the fourth quarter and made big plays down the stretch to lead the Milwaukee Bucks to their first win of the season.

Antetokounmpo was relentless attacking the paint. He started the game playing off the ball and was a finisher on nice passes from his teammates. Towards the end, he was handling the ball and was more aggressive creating for himself and everyone else.

With the Bucks leading by only two points in the final minute of the game, Antetokounmpo sucked the defense into the paint and dished a kick-out pass to a wide open Matthew Dellavedova for a dagger three-pointer.

Khris Middleton and Malcolm Brogdon backed Antetokounmpo up with 15 and 19 points respectively. Jaylen Brown scored 18 points to lead the Celtics. Irving scored 17 points but was held to 7/25 shooting. Boston falls to 0-2 to start the season.
