To celebrate the 35th anniversary of one of the most iconic kicks in the world, the Air Force 1, Nike brought together the the all aspects of the culture basketball into one playground.
Last December 2, Nike held the Battle Force Manila Celebration Night. It was a night filled with hoops, hip-hop, style, art and of course kicks. There was a Basketball Battle, a Rap Battle and a Dance Battle.
Team G-Force composed of Marky Mercado, Fran Asuncion, Jay Sacluti, Tim Cu, Nino Atilano, and Nikko Montelibano won the Basketball Battle. David Carlos and Bobby G. ended up taking home the Dunk Contest and Three-point Shootout titles respectively.
Yo Gang with members James Kevin Asis, Raymart Caraan, and Jayson Jullanda won the Rap Battle. In the Dance Battle, Melvin Calayag, Melvin De Guzman, Zhey Estolano, Angelito Delos Reyes, and Justin David collectively known as The Empire took home the top spot.
In the periphery of all those events, there were hot performances from Jess Connelly, Mike Swift, DJ Nix Damn P!, Abra & Loonie and Matt X AC. There was also a live art exhibit personally painted by Auggie Fontanilla and Darling Kink.
Some of the biggest names in basketball also came over to the Titan Love Court for the festivities. Coach Chot Reyes, Kiefer Ravena, the Teng brothers, Marc Pingris, Jeff Chan, Paul Lee, Scottie Thompson, Baser Amer, Kai Sotto, James Yap and Chris Newsome were those in attendance.
