Belangel is one of the top players coming out of high school for next season. The Blue Eagles had the inside track recruiting him and they didn’t let their blue chip player go.
As in his final year with the Blue Eaglets, Belangel averaged 16.8 points, 5.3 rebounds and 4.6 assists. He was third in scoring average and fourth in assist average. He was in consideration for the MVP alongside new UST recruit CJ Cansino and teammate Kai Sotto. He saved his best game of the tournament in the final game of the eliminations when he erupted for 31 points to give the Blue Eaglets the sweep.
Belangel is set to be the back-up point guard of the Blue Eagles, playing behind Matt Nieto for the first few years of his college career. But he’s touted as the floor general of the future for the Ateneo program because of his high basketball IQ, poise and composure on the floor.
