The Philippines leg of the Under Armour Southeast Asia 3×3 Tournament concluded on Saturday at the Titan Love Court in Bonifacio Global City, Taguig.
Ian Garido, Rocky Acidre, Mark Doligon, and Rutger Acidre of EGS Elite topped the Open category by winning over Argie Flores, Nikko Echano, Ralph Rivas, and Paul Jundez of MIT, 18-13.
Meanwhile, a handful of the finest high school basketball players, including SLAM Rising Stars alums like National University’s Rhayyan Amsali and Win Coyoca and Hope Christian High School’s Harvey Pagsanjan, participated in the Under-18 category.
But it was Bounty B, composed of Andrew Velasco, Alex Visser, Michael Malonzo, and Ernest Felecilda, which ruled the U18 tournament Manila leg with a 16-14 overtime victory over Bounty A’s Coyoca, Amsali, Pagsanjan, and Bagauisan.
In addition to the U18 category, a pocket tournament was held afterwards, involving the top three Manila finishers and the Cebu U18 champion, as part of the selection process to determine who shall represent the Philippines in the 2017 FIBA Asia 3×3 U18 Cup in Cyberjaya, Malaysia next month.
Manila third placers Earl Yu, Joshua Moralejo, Adrian De Jesus, and Marvin Refrosado of Escuela de Sophia and John Bryl Cuyos, Virlou Jorquez, Emanuel Bautista, and Allen Peligrino of Cebu champions UC Webmasters joined Bounty A and Bounty B in the single-elimination tournament.
The UC Webmasters emerged victorious in the Final, downing Bounty A, 21-20, in extension.
Flights and accommodations for the four-man contingent, which shall be announced later, will be fully paid for by the organizers.
