NBA Free Agency Recap: Paul Millsap joins the Denver Nuggets

Day 2 and 3 of the NBA Free Agency was tamer than the first day. It was a lot of role players that signing contracts to bolster playoff contenders.

That was the case until Shams Charania of The Vertical reported Paul Millsap signing with the Denver Nuggets.

This is huge coup for the Nuggets because Millsap is a player that fits their dynamic passing team. Nikola Jokic was unleashed last season as the central figure of the Nuggets offense. He developed solid chemistry with the rest of the Nuggets. Millsap is a player with high basketball IQ who provides Denver with a solid primary or secondary option.

Kyle Lowry and Serge Ibaka also opted back in with the Toronto Raptors.

The Raptors get to keep their core composed of Lowry, Ibaka and Demar DeRozan for another Playoff run. Lowry was linked to several other teams like the Philadelphia 76ers, Houston Rockets and San Antonio Spurs. He opted to stay in Toronto because that’s where he felt at home. He grew up in Toronto and helped the Raptors grown into a Playoff team.

Leaving the Raptors is PJ Tucker. The multi-skilled wing is joining the Houston Rockets to strengthen their wing rotation.

The Golden State Warriors have hit all their free agency goals. They signed Steph Curry and Shaun Livingston in Day 1 and kept their bench together when the re-signed Andre Iguodala.

JJ Redick left the LA Clippers and signed a one-year deal with the Philadelphia 76ers. The Sixers get a knock down shooter to spread the floor for their young core.

Philly continued to strengthen their roster for a possible Playoff run by signing big man Amir Johnson to give them some toughness and rebounding off the bench.

The Cleveland Cavaliers bring in a seasoned veteran in Jose Calderon to bring playmaking off the bench.

Joe Ingles signs a four-year deal to stay in Utah. He was a key player for the Jazz because of his shooting and crafty defense.

Taj Gibson reunites with his old coach Tom Thibodeau in Minnesota as a productive big man that can be paired with Karl-Anthony Towns.

After their talks stalled briefly, Nene and the Houston Rockets finally agreed on a three-year deal.

Ben McLemore gets a chance to reboot his career by joining the Memphis Grizzlies, a team that needs his scoring skills.

Langston Galloway finally signs a long term deal. He joins the Detroit Pistons with a three-year contract.

Foreign prospects Ante Zizic and Zhou Qi signed with the Boston Celtics and the Houston Rockets respectively.
