Now that the Philippine Cup is about to start the Finals, teams are already looking forward at the PBA Commissioner’s Cup and which import they will be getting. The ComCup has no height limit when it comes to the imports so this is when we are treated some really good big men or explosive, long armed, wingmen.
Some NBA veterans, some basketball journeymen, a few returning guys, and a number of surprises. This is the rundown of who will be reinforcing the ten teams in the PBA.
Barako Bull Energy Cola – Al Thornton
NBA Experience: Yes
Status: Confirmed by Quinito Henson
This guy was my NBA 2K11 stud. Al Thornton is a damn good scorer. He averaged 11.9 points per game through his NBA career along with 4.2 rebounds. He doesn’t have an outside shot though. Only shooting 29% from beyond the arc, he gets most of his points around the 15-foot and closer area.
Yes. Barako is really good at getting scorer imports in the Commissioner Cup. Last season, they got the services of DerMarr Johnson and Thornton will be giving them a little bit of a similar feel. The Energy Cola don’t really need a big import so a 6’8″ dude will be perfect with Lolo Mick, the return of Don Allado, and Jason Ballesteros.
