The newly awarded FIBA World Cup hosts bid on the platform of simplicity, intensity and diversity. They believe that by awarding the event to the three countries, it will unite the Asian region and inspire millions to play the game. Leading the charge for the Philippines were Mr. Manuel V. Pangilinan and Coach Chot Reyes. Both have been leading the charge for Philippine Basketball in the past few years.
We did it! Philippines will host 2023 FIBA World Cup. God bless us. #PlayLouderIn2023

The Philippines, Japan and Indonesia are automatically awarded berths to the 2023 FIBA World Cup. The rest of the 29 teams to complete the 32-team will be determined through qualifying tournaments. The 2023 World Cup serves as the qualifying tournament for the 2024 Olympics to be held in France.
This is the first time the Philippines will be hosting the FIBA World Cup since 1978.
