REPORT: Rain or Shine trades away Jeff Chan to Phoenix

Jeff Chan is the latest player from the Rain or Shine core to be shipped away.

Randolph Leongson of Inquirer reported that Chan will be traded to the Phoenix in exchange for Mark Borboran and the Fuel Masters’ future second round pick.

Both Rain or Shine and Phoenix are in the bottom half of the Governor’s Cup standings with records that fall below .500. Both teams need an energizer and they’re hoping that this trade leads to better results in future games.

Chan has slowly lost his place in the Elasto Painters with the emergence of young studs like Jericho Cruz and Maverick Ahanmisi in the back court. In three games, Chan has averaged 23 minutes, scoring only nine points on seven shots. He joins a Fuel Masters line-up that continues to crave outside shooting.

Borboran is an all-around forward that the Elasto Painters can plug into their line-up with Gabe Norwood serving Gilas duty. In five games this conference, Borboran has averaged only nine minutes and less than three points and three rebounds per game. He will get to play more as a long, athletic option at the small forward position for Rain or Shine.
