Timberwolves already running newspaper ads for players acquired in Kevin Love trade

It isn’t official yet, but the Minnesota Timberwolves are very excited about the post-Kevin Love era.

The team took out newspaper ads in the St. Paul Pioneer Press with the tagline “Fierce. Focused. And ready to pounce,” along with pictures of their new players.

According to Jerry Zgoda of the Minnesota Star Tribune, the Timberwolves are slated to get this year’s number one overall pick Andrew Wiggins and last year’s top selection Anthony Bennet from the Cleveland Cavaliers, in exchange for Kevin Love. Cleveland will also send the 2015 first round pick of the Miami Heat to the Philadelphia 76ers, while Minnesota ships out forward Luc Mbah a Moute and guard Alexey Shved. The 76ers then complete the three-team trade by giving the Timberwolves forward Thaddeus Young.

It’s surprising that the Timberwolves published the ad prior to the trade becoming official, and that might result in sanctions from the league. That said, we all knew this deal was coming, and we can probably expect the teams involved to formally announce it before tomorrow morning.
