WATCH: James Harden goes off for a near triple-double against New York

Last year, James Harden and Russell Westrbook were in a heated battle for the MVP award. They both put up unreal numbers and racked up one triple-double after another.

Looks like Harden got the triple-double race started early. He was a rebound shy of collecting a preseason triple-double. Harden scored 36 points, grabbed nine boards and dished out 11 assists in the Houston Rockets’ 117-95 win over the New York Knicks.

Clint Capela and Eric Gordon both benefited from all of Harden’s playmaking. Capela scored 19 points and had nine boards while Gordon scored 18 points on four treys. Harden played extended minutes in the preseason game with Chris Paul out resting.
