WATCH: Lakers guards Clarkson, Russell, out-play their Warriors counterparts

The unheralded guards of the LA Lakers outplayed their Golden State Warriors counterparts, to help fuel the upset win, 112-95.

Fil-Am Jordan Clarkson led all scorers with 25 markers on 21 shots. He was 4-of-6 from beyond the arc, equaling the number of makes of the defending champions who went 4-of-30, by himself. The second-round pick also added four rebounds and two steals.

Second overall pick D’Angelo Russell also had a good game, amassing 21 points, three boards, five dimes and four steals. Even reserve guard Marcelo Huertas got into the act, coming off the bench with 10 points and nine dimes.

The starting Warriors backcourt of Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson combined for 33 points on 13-of-40 shooting. They were also just 1-of-18 from beyond the arc, the worst outing of the Splash Brothers from three.

The young guns of the Lakers were so impressive, it’s easy to forget that Kobe Bryant played early on and provided 12 points on 14 tries.

The Lakers improved to 13-51, just their eighth win of the season at home, while the Warriors dropped to 55-6.
