Kobe Paras represented Team Philippines in the FIBA 3×3 2017 World Cup Dunk Contest. One of his dunks paid tribute to Vince Carter. The high-flying Filipino forward donned a Vince Carter jersey as he jumped over teammate Kiefer Ravena and put his forearm through the rim.
His first dunk in the qualification round was a windmill off the side of the backboard with the pass coming from Ravena.
Paras earned a combined score of 50 for his two dunks. Unfortunately his score wasn’t enough to propel him to the next round.
Paras competed against other high-flying artists, some of which took part in TNT’s Dunk King this year. The rest of the field was composed of Rafal Lipinski from Poland, Dmitry Krivenko and Vadim Piddubchenko from Ukraine, and Chris Staples and Jordan Southerland from the USA. Lipinski, Piddubchenko, Staples and Southerland all moved on to the next round.
